After spending two semesters studying Art History at Westchester Community College in Valhalla\/New York, Laura Busse completed a double Bachelor\u2019s Degree in History and Art History at Ruhr University Bochum. Her Bachelor thesis focused on an interdisciplinary view of the sculpture in national socialism and the change of visualization strategies of war and masculinity between 1939 and 1945.
\nIn her masters program she set a focus on german history of the 20th century whereby she emphasized on National Socialism and holocaust, more specific on the development of the camp system, forced labor and war photography.
\nIn 2017 she was a freelance employee at Mittelbau-Dora Concentration Camp Memorial in Nordhausen.<\/p>\n
From 2013 to 2018 Laura Busse was a student assistant at the chair of Prof. Dr. R\u00fcdiger Hohls in the department of Digital History (Historische Fachinformatik) where she co-edited the \u00bbClio-Guides\u00ab and published an article on digital tools for holocaust studies. Currently she works as a student assistant at the research and teaching area \u00bbCultural Theory and Cultural History and Theory of Aesthetics\u00ab, where she developed and organized two symposia, \u00bbBodys and Camps\u00ab (\u00bbK\u00f6rper und Lager\u00ab) in October 2017 and in collaboration with Waldemar Isak and Dr. Andreas Gehrlach \u00bbSelfcontainers\u00ab (\u00bbSelbstbeh\u00e4ltnisse\u00ab) in November 2019.<\/p>\n
Her master thesis \u00bbTrophy Shot. Soldiers private photos as trophies in World War II\u00ab traced back the term \u00bbtrophy\u00ab from of the early use of photography in colonial big game hunting to the photo as hunting trophys in WWII.<\/p>\n
