After having studied German Literature, Anglistics and Newer History at the University of T\u00fcbingen, Andreas Gehrlach received a PhD-scholarship from the Friedrich Schlegel Graduate School for Literary Studies at Freie Universit\u00e4t Berlin. He was a visiting scholar at the University of Chicago in 2012. His dissertation on the topic of theft and thieves in literature and myth was finished in 2015 and is now published under the title \u00bbDiebe. Die heimliche Aneignung als Ursprungserz\u00e4hlung in Literatur, Philosophie und Mythos\u00ab [\u00bbThieves. The Secret Appropriation as a Story of Origin in Literature, Philosophy and Myth\u00ab]. Following his PhD-scholarship, he received funding from the German Research Council (DFG) for his research on the \u00bbCultural History of Theft\u00ab. In 2016, he started to work at the Institute for Cultural History and Theory at Humboldt University of Berlin, where he is currently preparing his next book in cooperation with the Center for Literary and Cultural Research (ZfL).<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
